The Day of Love

While today is known around the world as the day of love it may also be smidge painful or even just a little stingy for someone sitting right next to you in your cubicle or pod.

We often make sure kids at school are treated even handedly but forget about adults going through a tough time.  Have it be a job stress, financial stress or just a sting of a relationship lost.  Show a little love and kindness to strangers and friends alike today.

Fun fact.  Cupid is known as the son of the Mythical Gods Mars and Venus.  Oy!

The Right Massage For Your Needs

Today, it seems as though there are so many mass-produced items and generic solutions to solve everyone’s needs. At Harmony Day Spa, we recognize that every customer that walks through our door to receive a massage is unique. As such, we pride ourselves on customizing a massage to fit any need.

Our massage therapists are American Massage Therapy Association Professional Members. Before starting our service, we ask our customers why they need a massage and where their trouble areas are. From there, we determine the best modality and areas to treat. The purpose of doing this is to focus our energy on the trouble spots to leave you feeling healed and relaxed. There is no one size fits all approach or recipe that the typical chain massage locations provide.  Our goal is to heal you, not sell you a membership or get you out the door in under 50 minutes.

We provide the following base massage services, after hearing your needs our therapists will customize to suit your unique body.

Swedish Massage. Have you been feeling stressed and tired? The Swedish massage is perfect for you. The combination of kneading and tapping strokes with muscle movement allows your body to relax and be energized. This treatment is also beneficial for treating muscle injuries. We offer the Swedish massage in our Fusion Massage, Swedish Massage, Back in Harmony, and Hot Stone Massage.

Deep Tissue Massage. Do you have trouble spots on your back and neck that just won’t go away? A Deep Tissue Massage can help rid your body of leftover pain from an old injury. The difference between Deep Tissue and Swedish is the strokes are slower and forceful. While it might sound painful, the massage shouldn’t be! If you are experiencing any pain with your massage, please let us know. Our therapists aren’t mind readers and their feelings will not be hurt if you tell them, we promise! We offer a Deep Tissue Massage in the following services Fusion Massage, Back in Harmony, and Deep Tissue Massage.

3 Tips to Look Your Best this Holiday Season

The holiday season is starting, which means plenty of family and gatherings, and celebratory parties. Catching up with people you may not see as often puts the pressure on to look your absolute best. Do not worry - that is what we are here for! Here are three tips to look your best this holiday season.

  1. Start an exercise routine. Does your busy holiday schedule leave you feeling stressed? Besides improving your physical appearance, regularly exercising is proven to decrease stress levels, boost happiness, and increase self-confidence. Find the time to squeeze in a yoga class, strength-training, or even a brisk walk. My new favorite activity is alternating between simple trampoline rebounding and medicine ball HIIT while watching Morning Joe.  It has really helped me on wanting to throw things at the TV and tweet inappropriately. ;)   Your body but more importantly your mind will thank you!

  2. Take care of your hair. This time of year is infamous for dry skin galore. Take care of an itchy scalp by using a moisturizing shampoo and avoid applying conditioner on your scalp. You can also apply an olive oil or other rich oils as a hair mask. Simply warm olive oil, Jojoba or Argan Oil,apply to your scalp by using your fingers, wrap hair in a shower cap and wash it off in the morning.

  3. Refresh your look. A great way to refresh your look and lift tired skin is through a contouring and lifting facial, feels almost like acupressure. We are offering a new treatment that can be combined with other facial modalities to apply acupressure to the face with jade and rose stones not that different from a jade roller, but better! The process helps to reverse the signs of aging and puffiness and leaves your skin looking fresh and lifted.

We love helping our customers look and feel their absolute best. Ultimately though, it is important that you feel confident, happy, and excited to experience the holiday season. So, do whatever it is that will make you feel ready for the holidays, whether it be treating yourself to a facial, starting an exercise routine, and taking care of your hair.  Beauty comes from the inside, no matter what.

Grateful

November is upon us and this time of year has us thinking about gratitude. In this turbulent society, it is important to remember who and what we are thankful for. We are grateful for our lovely staff and customers. Although they are not listed below, we would like to recognize the long-term staff members who have simply moved on with their life cycles. Harmony Day Spa would not be a success without your smiling faces, kind attitudes, and desire to live a healthy, balanced life.

To kick off this season of gratitude, we thought it would be fun for you to learn a bit more about the ladies of Harmony Day Spa.

Kelly

Kelly joined the Harmony Day Spa team over four months ago as a part-time esthetician. She enjoys working with amazing women and treating our wonderful clients. Prior to working at Harmony Day Spa, Kelly held a college internship at Disney. No matter where her career leads (and we hope it is many years with us!) we truly believe in the power of hospitality training that Disney teaches. It trickles down into everything Kelly does and we are so happy she has joined our team.

In Kelly’s time off she enjoys spending time with her family, especially her one-year-old, Dylan. Her top beauty tip for this fall is to moisturize daily and get a facial to bring back your natural glow! Kelly believes that the technological advances of LED treatments have transformed the beauty industry and it is one of her favorite trends. She’d like to visit Disney World and Italy soon!

Brittney

Brittney has been greeting our lovely guests at Harmony Day Spa for nine months as our part-time receptionist. She enjoys working with a great group of women in a welcoming atmosphere. In her spare time, Brittney is preparing to apply to grad school. She is very passionate about Occupational Therapy. We are thrilled that she has joined our team as she is such a great fit for Harmony Day Spa!

Brittney recommends that you give your skin the spa touch with the right hydration this fall! In her time off, she enjoys doing yoga, meditating, and spending time with her family. Her favorite beauty trends are balayage hair, a groomed eyebrow, and no-heat hairstyles. Brittney would love to go to the Maldives!

Keshia

Keshia is an amazing part time massage therapist with Harmony Day Spa since early 2015 and we have written about her in our last email so we will touch on the finer points!  Keshia is a full time educational professional with several master degrees and is preparing to go for a third! She is devoted to her family and many charitable causes such as the very recent Avon Walk in NYC.  We couldn’t be any prouder, but we really don’t know how she has the energy!
